In recognition of the Year of the Veteran, 2005 the Region of Peel
Archives present a collection of rare service cards from the Peel War
Records Board.
Over the past year, volunteers have been creating a searchable index
for the collection of unique documents. These service cards were
prepared for local men and women who enlisted in Peel County, and
contain a variety of biographical and genealogical details including
each veteran's employment history, religious affiliation, military
service, and honours.
"We are excited that these cards are now readily available for research
by the public," said Reference Archivist Brain Gilchrist. "This is an
important homage to our veterans whose heroic actions helped establish
the freedoms we enjoy today."
An alphabetical list of names is available to search online at <http://www.peelheritagecomplex.org>. If the name is listed, the veteran's card is available for research at the Peel Archives.
The Region of Peel Archives is located at 9 Wellington Street East, Brampton, Ontario.
